Many fish and other sea creatures as the turtle were already well-documented during the 17th century. At least, in their appearance. It has led to very high quality 300 year old paintings of these creatures on Delft tiles.
Our gallery is located in the Dutch city of Franeker. Franeker is a small town that played an important role in history, as the second university of the Netherlands was built here. Although the university is closed, the buildings and the homes of professors still remain. Next to that, Franeker is home to the oldest still operating planetarium in the world.
In the historical center of the town, on a five minute walk from the planetarium, you will find our gallery. In our gallery you will find over 1000 boxes on display, all filled with antique Delft tiles. If you are visiting us, we will take the time to tell you all about our tiles, their history and our company. To take the virtual tour through our gallery, click here.
