This is a very rare 17th century Delft tile depicting the scene in which Jesus (center) accompanies two disciples (Cleopas and another unindentified disciple) on the road to Emmaus (Luke 24 verse 15). The tile was made around 1650 in the Dutch city of Harlingen. Tiles depicting Biblical scenes such as this one are very rare from this time period. The tile is decorated with 'spider' corner motifs and is in a good and very pure condition. It clearly has some of the normal superficial wear and chips.
