Overview
This antique Delft tile depicts most likely the Roman goddess Venus on a shell that is being pulled forward by a stag kind of sea creature. It is a very rare scene. The tile was made in the Dutch city of Harlingen around 1660 and is decorated with 'ox-head' corner motifs. It has minor professional restorations on the tip of each corner and a more significant restoration in the upper part of the head and hair of Venus.
