Overview

Beautifully hand-painted Delft antique wall tiles known as 'Crystal Stone II', produced between approximately 1860 and 1920 in the Netherlands. This ornamental design depicts a geometric motif repeated both in the centre of each tile and within the corner motifs, creating a structured and harmonious decorative pattern when multiple tiles are installed together. The design is closely related to the 'Crystal Stone I' type, but this variant includes additional corner motifs that enhance the overall composition. Each tile is hand-painted, resulting in subtle variation and an authentic decorative character.

Condition and preparation

All tiles are reclaimed antiques and are prepared for reuse. They have been cleaned, desalinated and any soot residues have been removed. Each order is hand-selected to ensure a harmonious appearance in colour tone, glaze and surface character. If your project requires cut tiles, designated tiles with more visible imperfections can be supplied at a reduced price, helping preserve intact historical tiles.

Tile variety and stock

This collection consists of repeating ornament tiles designed to form a continuous 'Crystal Stone II' pattern when installed together. Representative images provide a clear impression of the overall decorative effect. A significant quantity of this type is currently available, making these tiles particularly suitable for larger tiling projects. Complementing tiles

These tiles are best showcased when used together, as the central and corner motifs align to create a coherent and visually structured surface. They can also be combined with the closely related 'Crystal Stone I' tiles for variation within a larger geometric composition. In addition, pairing them with plain white antique tiles, both first and second quality, can introduce framing or visual balance within the overall design.

Tile size

Each tile measures approximately 13 x 13 cm (5.1” x 5.1”) and is roughly 7–8 mm (0.3”) thick. As the tiles are handmade and antique, slight variations in size and thickness are to be expected and contribute to their authentic character.

Shipping and packing
We ship solely with premium partners such as DHL Express and FedEx Economy/Priority. Based on the delivery address, value and weight of the shipment we choose the right carrier to work with. Each shipment is fully insured and prepared with all the required documents to pass customs when ordering from outside the European Union. All our tiles are extremely well packed. We use heavy-duty cardboard boxes for small orders. Larger others are packed in wooden export crates with multiple layers of protective foam.

Antique tiles
Antique tiles are handmade, so variations in color, size and texture are to be expected. Also, due to the age of the items, small chips and signs of use are common and considered to be part of antique tiles and the overall experience. Our tiles have been rinsed and cleaned intensely, making them suitable to be reused. However, we can never guarantee that all traces of sooth, salt or other forms of pollution have completely been extracted from the tiles. We expect our customers to be aware of this matter.
