Overview
This Delft tile depicts a merman wielding a sword and shield. Its strong tail seems to accelerate him into battle. The tile dates from the 2nd half of the 17th century (c. 1660) and was most likely made in the Dutch city of Amsterdam. It is decorated with 'ox-head' corner motifs and is in a good condition, with a glued and restored fracture on the lower right corner and a very minor restoration on the top left corner.
