Overview
This Delft tile from around 1640 is painted in blue and depicts a seated Chinese figure within a small central medallion. The tile is in good condition, with a minor damage in the upper right corner, and is decorated with the three-dot corner motif. The combination of a Chinese-inspired figure and decorative elements derived from porcelain, paired with a typically Dutch interpretation, makes this tile a clear example of early Delftware chinoiserie.
