This tile dates from the first half of the 17th century (c. 1630) and depicts a hare in a dark shade of blue. It was fabricated in the Dutch city of Rotterdam and is known as a 'crown' tile due to the two circles in the center of the top side. The corners are decorated with the 'wanli' inspired corner motif. The 'wanli' motif refers to the motifs that were found on Chinese porcelain, which were very popular during the 17th century in the Netherlands. The tile is in a good condition, but do note the chip on the top left corner.
