Overview
This is a beautiful 18th century antique Delft tile mural depicting Jesus and the Samaritan woman. The mural was fabricated by pottery factory 'Aalmis' in the city of Rotterdam. It is of an outstanding quality and considered to be one of the most beautiful manganese tile murals known.
The mural depicts the scene of Jesus and the Samaritan woman who lifts water from a well. On the left side of the well a part of the jar the woman is carrying is visible. In the background the town of Sychar is shown with two men, probably disciples, walking back to Jesus with bread. The mural exists out of 20 tiles and 22 border tiles.
