This seems to be a romantic scene between a man and a woman. They are portrayed infront of what seems to be an important harbor, as there is a large galley visible and in the back more tall and/or warships. The woman is clearly looking into the direction of the ships, which might indicate that her lover is about to go overseas. This is of course just an interpretation. The tile dates from the 18th century (c. 1750) and was most probably fabricated in the Dutch city of Amsterdam. It is decorated with 'ox-head' corner motifs. It has a few minor professional restorations along the sides and corners and two small but restored dots in the center.
