Overview
This is a very solid and thick 17th century Delft tile made out of red clay. This gives away that it was produced in the southern part of the Netherlands and of quite an early age (c. 1630). It depicts an agile looking soldier in full gear, wielding his sword and shield. His helmet has a plume. The tile is decorated with large 'ox-head' corner motifs and is in a great condition. It has the normal superficial wear and some minor chips. Note the small baking flaw just above the knees of the soldier.
