Overview
This extremely rare Delft tile is known as a 'Rotterdam Crown Tile with an open air landscape'. The more common, but still rare 'Rotterdam Crown Tile' has a crown in the top center of the tile, just like this one, but the main scene is depicted in a circle with 'wanli' inspired corner motifs. Of this 'open air' variant only a few dozen tiles are known. They specific tile was made around 1620 and is after 400 years still in a very pure condition. It has some chips along the sides but is overall in a good condition.
