Overview
P-35 series – Birds and flowers
The P-35 series is based on original 17th-century Delft wall tiles, each one showing a vibrant mix of birds and flowers. The photos show the tiles painted on shade Poarte-E, finished with pinholes and decorated with the classic ox-head corner motif (PCM-20) for an authentic, timeless look. This is our standard setup, but we’re always happy to customise the base, finish, or corner detail to suit your project.
32 unique scenes
This series includes 28 hand-painted scenes, all recreated from an antique set of Delft tiles dating back to around 1635, most likely made in or near the Dutch city of Rotterdam. You’ll find a lively mix of birds, including pigeons, a lapwing, and a stork with its long neck, alongside beautifully painted flowers like fritillaria, carnations, a strawberry plant, and two versions of the Myosotis. Each tile is framed with the iconic ox-head motif, adding that classic Delft character. Whether you’re planning a small wall installation or simply want to display them on their own, these tiles bring colour, history, and a touch of Dutch elegance to any setting.
Pinholes in the corners
Pinholes were part of the tile production process before 1860. A wooden board was used to stabilize the clay during cutting, leaving small pin marks - typically two, three, or four. This enhancement can be added to these tiles to recreate this authentic imperfection, contributing to their historic look and feel.
Crackled finish
Crazing refers to the fine network of hairline cracks that appear over time on antique ceramics, including Delft tiles. It occurs naturally with age, but we offer it as an optional finish to evoke the same aged appearance. If you're looking for a more antique, timeworn look, the crackled finish is a perfect match for this series.
