Overview
P-13 series – Mix of sea life and mythical sea creatures
This is our P-13 series of sea life. These Delft wall tiles are exact hand painted replicas from the 17th century. The tiles are decorated with ox-head corner motifs (PCM-20) and painted in a dark blue
The photos show the P-13 series painted on our Warm Mix base, enhanced with the crackled finish and pinholes. This is the base configuration, but of course, it can be fully fine-tuned to your preferences.
32 unique scenes
All the designs in this series are direct replicas of 17th-century reclaimed Delft tiles. The collection includes 32 unique scenes, featuring a broad variety of sea life from recognizable animals such as a frog, a sole, and a flying fish to more imaginative creatures like sea monsters and mermaids.
This wide collection makes this series ideal for larger installations, adding visual interest and subtle storytelling throughout the installation. Since every tile is painted by hand, each design has subtle differences in brushwork and detail, ensuring that no two tiles are ever completely identical.
Pinholes in the corners
Pinholes were part of the tile production process before 1860. A wooden board was used to stabilize the clay during cutting, leaving small pin marks - typically two, three, or four. This enhancement can be added to the P-13 tiles to recreate this authentic imperfection, contributing to their historic look and feel.
Crackled finish
Crazing refers to the fine network of hairline cracks that appear over time on antique ceramics, including Delft tiles. It occurs naturally with age, but we offer it as an optional finish to evoke the same aged appearance. If you're looking for a more antique, timeworn look, the crackled finish is a perfect match for the P-13 series.
