Overview
Poarte – H is the brightest of our nine classic white shades, featuring just a hint of grey to maintain an authentic, vintage appeal. Inspired by reclaimed antique Delft tiles, this newly made tile provides the timeless look and feel that Delft tiles are known for. Alongside our other white shades, Poarte – H forms the basis for our arranged mixes and series of hand-painted decorated Delft tiles.
Poarte – H is part of the grey mix, the claes mix, the all-in mix, and the colourful mix. Of course, you can also choose this single shade for a clean, luminous finish that still offers the subtle character of Delft craftsmanship.
Pinholes in the corners
Pinholes are a nod to the traditional tile-making process used before 1860. During that era, tiles were cut from clay on a wooden board stabilized by pins, which left small holes in the corners. By incorporating two pinholes into each tile, we preserve the historically imperfect charm that distinguishes true Delft tiles.
Crackled finish
Crazing, or a network of fine surface cracks, may develop over time in antique ceramics. Opting for a crackled finish recreates this aged, imperfect look, which many consider central to the Delft tile experience. Whether you prefer a pristine surface or enjoy the added depth of a crackled texture is entirely up to your personal taste.
