Overview
Poarte – I is one of nine white shades developed by Poarte, showcasing a distinctive mix of greyish, blueish, and soft brownish undertones. This newly made tile allows you to capture the timeless look of antique Delft tiles while enjoying the versatility that comes with a subtly complex color palette. Alongside our other white shades, Poarte – I sets the stage for our arranged mixes and series of hand-painted decorated Delft tiles.
Poarte – I is part of the all-in mix and the blue mix. Of course, you can create your own unique combination or focus on this single shade to highlight its rich, layered tones.
Pinholes in the corners
Pinholes recall the historic tile-cutting methods used before 1860, when a wooden board stabilized by pins left subtle marks at the corners. By incorporating two pinholes into each tile, we preserve the authentic, imperfect character for which Delft tiles are renowned.
Crackled finish
Crazing, or a network of fine cracks on a tile’s surface, can develop naturally over time in antique ceramics. Opting for a crackled finish will give Poarte – I tiles an aged, imperfect charm that complements their multifaceted tones. Whether you choose a pristine surface or the character of crackling is entirely a matter of taste.
