Overview
Poarte – A is one of nine shades of white we developed, inspired by the warm tones found in reclaimed antique Delft tiles. This newly made tile allows you to recreate the classic look and feel that Delft tiles are celebrated for. Along with our other white shades, Poarte – A serves as the foundation for our arranged mixes and series of hand-painted decorated Delft tiles.
Poarte – A is part of the following arranged mixes: warm mix, colourful mix and the all-in mix. Of course, you are welcome to create your own mix or use a single shade to suit your vision.
Pinholes in the corners; pinholes are a tribute to the traditional tile-making methods used before 1860. Back then, tiles were cut from clay with the help of a wooden board stabilized with pins, leaving small marks in the corners. To preserve the authentic charm of historical Delft tiles, we replicate this feature by adding two pinholes to each tile.
Crackled finish; crazing, or surface cracking, is a natural phenomenon that occurs over time on antique ceramics like Delft tiles. Adding this enhancement gives your tiles an aged, imperfect beauty that emphasizes their historical character. While some prefer smooth surfaces, others value the depth and texture that crackling provides. If you appreciate the aged aesthetic, this finish is an excellent choice.
