Overview
These are our antique plain white Delft tiles from the 18th/19th century, in a custom small size of approximately 10 by 10 cm's / 4" by 4". Original Delft tiles were never made in this size, so we used our regular sized plain tiles in a damaged condition and cut them to this smaller version. Their soft variations in shade and natural glaze character give every installation a depth and authenticity that is unique. Historically used in kitchens, halls, fireplaces and bathrooms, they remain a timeless choice today for both classic restorations and refined contemporary interiors.
With one of the largest curated stocks of antique witjes, we specialise in creating selections that best suit your project — whether balanced, slightly varied, or complementary to decorated Delft tiles already chosen.
Condition and preparation
Each tile is carefully cleaned, desalinated and freed of soot, fully prepared for direct reuse. Our first quality includes tiles ranging from perfect condition to pieces with minor or light-medium chips, always selected to meet our high standards. If cut tiles are required, we can supply pieces with more visible wear at a reduced rate to preserve intact historical examples.
Tile variety and stock
We maintain a large and fluctuating stock of 18th- and 19th-century witjes. Because these tiles were handmade and fired individually, they naturally vary in tone, shade and surface character. We can curate selections that lean toward certain preferred tones or work harmoniously with decorated tiles, but within the limits of what antique stock allows. Smaller projects are generally easier to balance; larger quantities naturally introduce more tonal diversity. Availability changes daily, so early contact is recommended for larger installations.
Tile size
Each tile measures about 10 x 10 cm (4” x 4”) and is roughly 7–8 mm (0.3”) thick. As antique handmade pieces, slight differences in size and thickness are entirely normal and part of their authentic charm.
A downloadable installation guide is available soon, explaining how to handle thickness differences and other practical details during installation.

Product disclaimer
Due to their age and handmade nature, antique tiles show natural variations in tone, glaze and size. While we cannot offer a 100% guarantee, each tile has been carefully prepared to the highest possible standard and meets our quality requirements.
