Overview
These are wonderful nautical themed antique Dutch wall tiles with all kinds of ships, boats and sea monsters. The tiles are original 17th century and are decorated with the iconic 'ox-head' corner motif. They were most likely made in the Dutch city of Rotterdam. An interesting characteristic of this type is that the scenes are painted in blue, but that the thin lines of each scene are done in manganese. It is a rare combination.
